My name is Kate Nordstrand. I have had an open workshop and gallery in Grimstad since 2002.

Here, among the small white houses and the seaside, I find inspiration for my colorful creations of silk.

30 years ago I fell in love with silkpainting when I saw how he color spread across the white silk. I have since worked on making colorful and unique clothes, because I want the customer to be noticed in the crowd! Have also worked on collections with a view to the tourism industry.

Each product is painted by hand, with reactive colors which are then steam fixed and washed by hand. By steam fixing, the colors penetrate the silk and become permanent.

All the products are unique and designed by me.

Silk gives a feeling of luxury, but it is easy to use and easy to wash.

I often draw inspiration from the magical Northern Lights and our exciting history and culture. Our magnificent nature is also a great source of inspiration.

I also work with colorful etchings from copper plates. Each print becomes an original and unique.
